Business Development Manager – EU Alloy Market m/w/d

Location: Germany - Cologne (on-site)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify, analyze, and develop new business opportunities in the European alloying and specialty metals market
  • Conduct structured market and competitor analyses, including emerging alloys and technologies
  • Build and execute strategic growth initiatives aligned with business objectives
  • Focus on business development and identifying new accounts and developing them to become tangible opportunities.
  • Develop and manage relationships with OEMs, alloy producers, forgers, and research institutions across Europe
  • Engage with engineering, procurement, and R&D teams to understand technical requirements
  • Lead long-cycle sales processes (12–24 months), typical of medical, aerospace and defense sectors
  • Drive value-based selling strategies, including pricing models and contract structuring

3. Technical & Project Coordination

  • Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration between process engineering, R&D, production, and commercial teams
  • Lead joint development projects with the academia (e.g., test programs, validation activities)
  • Translate laboratory and academic results into industrial applications and commercial concepts
  • Provide technical input for proposals, feasibility evaluations, and customer solutions

4. Technical Expertise & Application Support

  • Apply knowledge of niobium alloys and high‑performance materials (e.g., Nb‑Ti, Nb₃Sn, C103)
  • Communicate metallurgical concepts (e.g., melt routes, purity requirements) in a commercial context
  • Support development of application‑specific solutions in aerospace, defense, superconducting, and energy markets

Education

  • M.Sc. Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Ph.D. degree is an advantage

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in specialty metals, superalloys, or refractory metals (preferably refractory metals)
  • Proven track record in business development and sales in technical B2B environments
  • Experience in aerospace, medical, advanced energy, or adjacent industries
  • Exposure to alloy supply chains, including mill products and forgings
  • Experience working at the interface of technology, customers, and market strategy

Key Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong analytical and structured approach to market development and project execution
  • Ability to translate technical characteristics into commercial value propositions
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work across technical, academic, and commercial environments
  • High level of autonomy, initiative, and resilience

Languages

  • German – fluent (preferred)
  • Additional EU languages are an asset
  • Available for national and international travel to other Neo sites in the EU and partner sites for as required (~25%).
