As Category Manager for Market Insights, you’ll be on an exciting mission to shape how Boehringer Ingelheim sources and manages external partners in this critical category.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • You will lead sourcing activities for the Market Insights & Data category globally, applying strategic thinking, persuasiveness, and assertiveness to drive impactful decisions.
  • Challenge the status quo and identify opportunities to improve sourcing strategies, convincing senior stakeholders to adopt innovative approaches.
  • As global supplier manager, you will establish and enforce a robust governance framework with our core providers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Strengthen relationships with strategic external partners while continuously scanning the market for new players and solutions that align with BI’s evolving needs.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, while exploring innovative service models and technologies to enhance insight generation.
  • Independently manage high volumes of sourcing requests and lead successful negotiations, ensuring contracts meet business needs and are aligned with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cutting‑edge sourcing methods that elevate BI’s capabilities in speed, cost efficiency, and value creation.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in business administration, procurement/sourcing is preferred, but equivalent professional training, like a bachelor’s degree, combined with several years of experience in procuring services/goods for a pharmaceutical company, ideally in global category management, will also be considered.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable market intelligence and sourcing experience in the respective category area of market insights and/or in GxP and NTA relevant categories.
  • Understanding of demand management, market and supplier analysis, compliance management, due diligence, risk management, innovation, supplier management, contract management, global category management, negotiation techniques and other established sourcing methodologies.
  • An open‑minded, motivated, persuasive, and perseverant personality with outstanding internal and external relationship management skills.
  • Experience in project management and a solid understanding of market research methodologies and supplier ecosystems, as well as experience in leading cross‑functional teams that consist of internal and external partners.
  • Legal expertise in contract law (German law of obligations preferred).
  • Proven ability to work in global, cross‑functional, and intercultural teams.
  • Knowledge of the German language is a plus.
