Client Site Manager - Energy Project
Location: Wilhelmshaven, Lower Saxony
Reporting to: Lead Construction Manager
The Assignment
We are supporting a major energy infrastructure project in Wilhelmshaven in the search for an experienced Client Site Manager (CSM) to oversee site activities on a large-scale Converter Station development.
This position requires an individual capable of operating at both strategic and operational level, someone who can effectively manage contractor performance while ensuring the highest standards of HSEQ, quality, and programme delivery are maintained throughout construction.
The successful candidate will act as the client's on-site representative, providing technical oversight, driving contractor accountability, and maintaining alignment between site execution and overall project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The selected professional will be responsible for:
HSEQ Leadership
- Promoting and maintaining a strong safety-first culture across site activities
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives within contractor HSEQ performance
- Conducting HSE observations and supporting quality audits
Contract & Construction Oversight
- Managing contractor compliance through NCRs, TQs, RFIs, and related contractual processes
- Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, technical standards, and milestones
- Monitoring contractor performance against programme requirements
Progress & Risk Management
- Tracking construction progress and identifying schedule risks or potential delays
- Providing regular updates to planning and project management teams
- Supporting mitigation planning where required
Stakeholder Coordination
- Acting as the interface between site teams, Owner's Engineers, contractors, and client representatives
- Facilitating collaborative and solution-oriented communication across stakeholders
- Managing technical discussions and resolving contradictions relating to standards or execution
Reporting
- Producing daily and weekly construction reports
- Maintaining accurate records relating to HSE, quality, and construction progress
Candidate Profile
We are looking to engage with experienced construction professionals who possess a strong background in complex infrastructure or energy projects and demonstrate a proactive, safety-led approach to site management.
Required Experience
- Proven background within Site Coordination, Construction Management, or Client Site Management
- Experience across large-scale infrastructure, power, HVDC, energy, civils, or M&E projects
- Strong understanding of construction quality processes and contractor management
Technical Competencies
- Experience reviewing and approving FQPs and ITPs
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schedules, and construction documentation
- Familiarity with contractual compliance procedures including NCRs, RFIs, and TQs
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
- Ability to operate effectively within high-pressure construction environments
- Collaborative but assertive approach to contractor management
Additional Requirements
- Competent with Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools
- Flexibility to support intensive construction phases where extended site hours may be required
