Electronics Design Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative Electronics Design Engineer to join our client's team in the cutting-edge quantum key distribution (QKD) systems sector. In this role, you will contribute to delivering low-noise, high-frequency mixed-signal control and instrumentation by designing, prototyping, and validating hardware components, developing firmware, and supporting manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and validate hardware, focusing on low-noise, high-frequency performance.
• Develop and modify STM32 F4/H7 firmware in C, interfacing with Python for control and data acquisition.
• Build and extend automated test setups to ensure repeatable firmware and board validation.
• Support manufacturing by producing packages, maintaining test fixtures, and managing versioning.

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in analog/mixed-signal electronics design for R&D/instrumentation.
• Strong proficiency in Altium for schematics and PCB layout; DFM/DFT.
• Deep understanding of analog fundamentals, including low-noise signal chains and precision measurements.
• Lab expertise in precision and high-frequency measurements.
• Python proficiency for lab/test automation and instrument control; Git-centric workflow.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Ability to work on-site in Munich or Potsdam offices when required.
• Must have the right to work in Germany and be eligible for security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to STM32 F4/H7; C with HAL.
• Familiarity with STM32 bootloaders/updates (DFU/OTA).
• Experience with calibration flows and production test fixtures.
