Financial Accountant/Finanzbuchhalter

Overview

Our client is a large, complex and international organisation looking for a Financial Accountant. This is a new role to join an existing team and will be responsible to:

Oversee the Accounts Payable ledger managed by the Shared Service Centre, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
Post monthly general journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts in compliance with financial policies.
Prepare and manage provisions and prepayment schedules, ensuring correct accounting treatment.
Assist in the preparation and submission of Quarterly VAT returns, sales reports, and other statutory filings.
Review and reconcile bank statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Support the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Maintain and update accrual listings, ensuring all costs are properly recorded and accounted for.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving variances.
Oversee the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate tracking and compliance with accounting standards.
Identify and drive process improvements in collaboration with the Finance Business Partner to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Act as a key liaison, providing guidance and support to the Shared Service Centre and other departments on financial processes.
Handle ad hoc financial requests as required to support business operations.

This role will require a minimum of 2 days per week in the office, ideally 3.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required

Degree in accounting (or similar)
Fluent in German (native level) and English
High degree of teamwork, flexibility, and initiative
An eye for detail and accuracy, highly numerate and able to work to deadlines
A minimum of 2 years of experience with a current job level of as financial accountant
