Your mission & challenges
- Hire, mentor, and grow a high‑performing team of Robotic Foundation Model Application Engineers
- Act as technical lead and escalation point for NeuraGym users: scope feasibility, choose algorithms, plan data collection
- Oversee onboarding of users to the full NeuraGym pipeline: teleoperation, annotation, training, simulation, deployment and validation
- Collaborate closely with on‑site Robotics Engineers during data capture and experiments to ensure desired behavior and safety standards are met
- Step in hands‑on when the team hits hard blockers: review training scripts, identify data issues, help reproduce model bugs
- Serve as the interface to our Cloud and AI teams, facilitating cross‑functional collaboration and alignment
- Aggregate lessons learned across all engagements and feed them into both the NeuraGym product roadmap and the Neura core AI roadmap
- Define and track team KPIs (skill success rate, time‑to‑validated‑skill, data efficiency)
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years hands‑on machine learning experience in robotics — strong in at least two of: vision‑based manipulation, reinforcement/imitation learning, or multimodal foundation models
- 2+ years of people management or formal technical leadership (tech lead, staff engineer, or team lead with direct reports)
- Solid Python skills (C++ a plus); practical experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Comfortable working directly with real robot hardware and associated middleware
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and robotic simulation tools (IsaacSim, MuJoCo, etc.) a plus
- Proven ability to deliver complex, multi‑month robotics projects with measurable outcomes
- Clear communicator who can translate between researchers, engineers, and end‑users; good command of English and German (B2–C1)
