Lead Data Engineer (f/m/x) – TFL Data

Position Overview

DB Technology is a global team of tech specialists focused on promoting technical excellence. We design, build, and operate cutting‑edge financial services solutions using modern technologies. Our Berlin location is the newest addition to this global network, offering excellent opportunities for talented engineers and technologists. Trade Finance and Lending (TF&L) is a core business of Corporate Bank, providing solutions that mitigate trade risks and enable global trade flows. Our team is refreshing the IT platform to support new services and automate processes, reducing costs and improving service quality. The platform supports loan lifecycle management, collateral management, and integrations with Cash, Treasury, Risk, and Finance systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new functionality in the data landscape, including ETL pipelines, data access services, data marts, and data quality controls.
• Play a leader role in a large‑scale data engineering team, contributing to performance and knowledge sharing.
• Provide end‑to‑end technical ownership for key platform functionality.
• Engage in product development, collaborating with Product Management to form a product vision for the platform’s future.
• Help stabilize infrastructure, unify and simplify existing solutions, driving reliability, stability, and evolvability improvements.

Skills & Experiences

• Strong programming fundamentals; Java and Kotlin knowledge is a plus.
• Experience running non‑trivial solutions in Kubernetes.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of modern data processing stacks, including Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, and MPP engines such as Vertica, ClickHouse, Apache Druid, or Apache Pinot.
• User‑level knowledge of Linux.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
