Overview

Role within the Hardware Department focusing on humanoid robotics. Design, construction, and optimization of mechanical systems for humanoid robots.

Responsibilities

• Development, design, and optimization of mechanical systems for humanoid robots
• Design of joints, structures, gearboxes, and actuators, considering weight, load capacity, and dynamics
• CAD design and creation of technical drawings and parts lists
• Perform strength, motion, and tolerance analyses
• Work closely with electronics, control engineering, and software departments
• Build, integrate, and test prototypes
• Assist in selection of suitable materials and manufacturing processes
• Document development results

Qualifications

Must-have:

• Degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or comparable field
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical design and machine elements
• Experience with CAD software (CREO, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)
• Knowledge of kinematics and dynamics of robot systems
• Knowledge of simulation (e.g., FEM, multibody)
• Understanding of overall mechatronic systems
• Ability to work in a team and a structured, independent way of working
• Good knowledge of German or English

Nice-to-have:

• Experience in humanoid robotics, exoskeletons, or biomechanical systems
• Knowledge of lightweight construction, actuator technology, or gear technology
• Experience from research projects, competitions, or open-source robotics
