Technical Assistant / BTA / CTA (m/f/x)
Salary Group: E 9a TV-L (subject to personal qualification).
Start Date: June 1, 2026. The position is third‑party funded and limited until October 31, 2027 with up to 100 % weekly hours and 50 % weekly hours until June 30 2029 (time limitation pursuant to TzBfG). There is a strong intention of prolongation of the contract subject to available funding. The role is suitable for part‑time employment; please indicate your preferred working time in your application.

Tasks

• Handle and assess quality of RNA and DNA samples and prepare them for NGS sequencing library creation.
• Operate cell suspension handling for single‑cell experiments.
• Manage automated systems, contribute to protocol development, and optimize NGS workflows.
• Document and evaluate results and troubleshoot experiments in close collaboration with research scientists.

Requirements

• Completed vocational training as a biological‑technical assistant (BTA), chemical‑technical assistant (CTA) with state recognition, or as a biological/chemical laboratory technician with equivalent knowledge and work experience.
• Excellent knowledge and extensive practical experience in cell and molecular biology methods.
• Experience in NGS, histology techniques, cell culture handling, and basic microscopy is advantageous.
• Knowledge of automated systems is beneficial but not required.
• Meticulous documentation of experiments and assistance in overall laboratory organization.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Strong communication skills, professional approach, and ability to work independently and in a team.
