User Experience Designer

As we scale our cloud‑native capabilities and expand our global footprint, we are seeking a talented User Experience (UX) Designer to create intuitive, engaging, and user‑centric experiences for our product portfolio – which spans from asset lifecycle management, and network modelling of the electrical grid, to the management of protective relays and IEDs.

Position Summary

This is a high‑impact role for an experienced and talented User Experience (UX) Designer with a passion for industrial business scenarios. You will collaborate closely with product managers and software engineers and work closely with customers to translate user needs and business goals into intuitive design solutions.

This position requires a hands‑on understanding of UX design and user research, paired with the desire to digitally enable industrial users in the energy industry. It offers the opportunity to play a key role in the global energy transition by supporting electrical grid operators with an intuitive user experience tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities

• User Research and UX Leadership
• Conduct user research through user interviews and observations, usability testing, surveys and data analysis
• Create and maintain design guides and design systems across the IPS portfolio, in collaboration with design colleagues, product managers, and engineering
• Advocate for user‑centric design principles across the organization
• Ensure design meets usability, accessibility, and performance standards
• Execution & Delivery
• Work closely with product management and engineering to make the user experience vision a reality.
• Translate user research insights into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications
• Design intuitive and accessible user interfaces that align with brand and product strategy
• Iterate on designs based on user feedback, analytics, and business requirements
• Cross‑functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to ensure the User Experience of IPS products appeals to our users and is consistent across the IPS product portfolio.
• Provide insights into the evolution of User Experience trends and tools to internal stakeholders to inform technical and commercial decisions.

Key Qualifications

• Required Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years’ experience in UX design for enterprise software products or mobile applications, ideally in the energy industry, electrical power utilities, or asset‑intensive industries.
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise‑grade user experience to a global market.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
• Comfortable working with empowered teams in lean agile software development.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA, etc)
• Basic understanding of front‑end development
• Experience using analytics and usability testing tools.
• Familiarity with electrical power grid operations and maintenance is a plus.
• Prior experience with a software vendor serving asset‑intensive sectors (e.g. energy, utilities, infrastructure) is desired.
