What you’ll do at Synthesia

• Work end‑to‑end on our client application written in React and our monolithic backend written in Python, managing the safe release of your features to our customer base.
• Have sole ownership of projects that span months, breaking problems into small steps that can be delivered and validated iteratively.
• Work directly with the product manager responsible for your project, ideating and focusing on the commercial problem you’re solving, and shaping the direction of the product.
• Leverage our data pipeline and frameworks to understand the impact of your features on our commercial objectives and pivot when necessary.
• Consider the long‑term direction of the team, ensuring we develop engineering capabilities to stay ahead of future challenges.

What we’re looking for

• At least seven (7) years of experience as a software engineer, with 3+ at senior/lead level.
• Experience in a high‑performing engineering team operating at scale, in a scale‑up or established organization known for great engineering culture.
• Ability to work across the stack, deep knowledge of client‑side; experience implementing complex UI interactions is ideal. Front‑end only experience is OK if you can help with back‑end occasionally.
• Relevant engineering experience building an enterprise‑grade SaaS product delivering AI‑powered video generation, billing systems, experimentation platforms, video delivery systems, online editors, real‑time collaboration, etc.
• Strong alignment with commercial success.
• Previous leadership experience of smaller teams is a plus.

The hiring process

• 30–40 min call with our Technical Recruiter
• 45 min call with an Engineering Manager about your past projects
• 90 min Live Coding interview, a collaboration exercise with our Engineer (not LeetCode style)
• 60 min System Design interview, technical discussion about a real problem we had in production
• 45 min call with leadership, focusing on examples of collaboration, growth, and future team details

Other important info

• This is a remote role from an EU country, UK or Switzerland.
• The salary starts at EUR/GBP/CHF 100,000 base + stock option plan.
• Full‑time employment only – no contractors possible – usually through OysterHR.
• Everyone at Synthesia gets 25 days of leave + local holidays (no extra paid or unpaid leave possible).
• We only sponsor VISA if you are already in the UK/EU country and need support – we do not relocate people.
