Compliance - Vice President - Regulatory Audit Management for GSBE Divisional Compliance - Frankfurt

Goldman Sachs seeks two VP-level candidates for its Compliance team at Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE (GSBE) in Frankfurt, reporting to the local Divisional Lead and focusing on managing external regulatory audits by BaFin. Responsibilities include proactively managing audit engagements, collaborating with business stakeholders, identifying and reporting control issues, and providing recommendations to strengthen internal controls. Candidates should possess analytical skills, a deep understanding of risk and controls, and the ability to work independently and as part of a global team.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactive audit management: manage external audit engagements from planning to reporting, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Partner with business management, risk, compliance colleagues, and other control groups to identify control issues that could result in audit findings.
• Communicate potential audit findings and provide overall opinion on the control environment and find remediation where appropriate.
• Develop recommendations to strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Adhere to the Global Compliance Framework and support the compliance programme, including risk assessments and design/implementation of appropriate controls.
• Deploy second-line controls and collaborate with the first line to develop controls that detect risks timely and challenge design, implementation, and corrective actions.
• Work with Legal, Controllers, Internal Audit, Technology, Operations (Client Onboarding), and other compliance areas to resolve matters promptly and coordinate with local regulators.
• Assist in interpreting and implementing new rules/regulations—assess regulatory risks, changes and potential impact.
• Collaborate with other compliance areas and the business to produce responses to information requests ahead of regulatory audits, reviews, reports, and questionnaires.

Key Skills And Qualifications

• University degree and at least six years of compliance experience, preferably at a top-tier house or with sophisticated market-making/hedging or complex financing capabilities; Global Markets or Wealth Management experience preferred.
• Experience with BaFin audits, Securities Trading Act/WpHG and MaRisk/MaComp frameworks is an asset.
• Experience dealing with regulators/regulatory audits/enquiries.
• Pro-active, self-motivated, well organized.
• Excellent communication of complex issues to senior levels and external regulators.
• Strong understanding of EU regulations impacting financial markets (MiFID, MAR, Benchmarks, EMIR, AIFMD, UCITS, CRD, CSDR, ESG, etc.).
• Fluent in German and English (pre-requisite).
• Strong knowledge of the European regulatory environment and specifically BaFin rules in German WpHG and MaRisk audits.
• Attention to detail, independent, analytical thinking.
• Ability to obtain senior stakeholder buy-in in challenging situations.
• Proven ability to navigate and build strong relationships in an international, cross-office environment.
• Team-oriented and supportive of others’ success; comfortable representing a product to stakeholders aligned with collaborative culture.
• Ability to make sound decisions and articulate risks associated with regulatory reporting.
• Strong integrity and professionalism.
