Overview

As a Corporate Commodity Manager, you will be part of the Corporate Strategic Procurement team (SE P DM SYS ES), responsible for the commodity strategy of Automation—including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), SCADA, and network components. Your typical day will involve defining and executing commodity strategies, negotiating with suppliers, managing supplier relationships, reporting, problem solving, supply chain risk mitigation, and alignment meetings with cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Automation commodity globally and develop material field strategies.
  • Define commodity structure and implement material productivity programs to maximize contribution to targets.
  • Lead a global functional team of business area commodity managers; be the strong interface to R&D, cost‑value engineering, supplier quality development, and other procurement functions, bringing supplier innovation into R&D processes.
  • Responsible for supplier management: selection, documentation, strategic communication, regular evaluation/classification, development, and representing Siemens Energy’s pooled interests.
  • Negotiate frame contracts and identify procurement risks, opportunities, and market forces to mitigate potential damage or exploit opportunities through tailored risk/opportunity management.
  • Oversee supply‑chain governance topics such as external sustainability audits and procurement assessments.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a technical or business‑related field.
  • Strong professional experience in procurement‑related roles (strategic procurement, commodity management) or similar expertise in control system technology.
  • Knowledge of major market trends in Automation (e.g., edge, software‑defined Automation).
  • Capability to negotiate and operate in diverse cultures.
  • Knowledge for setting up procurement strategies on different material fields and understanding of contract law and export control.
  • Excellent English and German language skills; travel percentage ~20%.
