Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Java Developer to support the development of a major digital transformation initiative within the Public Sector, aimed at modernizing core legacy systems and enhancing operational efficiency across Europe

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance, scalable applications using Java and Quarkus. Ensure code quality through maintainable, efficient, and best-practice-aligned development.
• Design and optimize MongoDB and PostgreSQL schemas, queries, and indexing strategies to support scalability and performance.
• Develop and scale microservices leveraging Kafka for event-driven communication. Integrate with the ELK stack for robust logging, monitoring, and diagnostics.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across code and infrastructure. Apply profiling, testing, and fine-tuning techniques to ensure optimal system performance.
• Implement DevOps practices using Jenkins, SonarQube, and Nexus. Focus on automation, security, and efficient deployment pipelines.
• Apply secure coding principles throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring compliance and resilience against vulnerabilities.
• Support junior developers through mentorship and knowledge sharing. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Collaborate closely with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Take full responsibility for tasks from analysis and design to implementation and deployment. Proactively drive solutions with a focus on quality and timely delivery.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience in Java, Maven, and Quarkus or Spring for building scalable enterprise applications.
• Proficiency with Git (preferably Bitbucket).
• Solid expertise in MongoDB and PostgreSQL, with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka for event-driven architecture and ELK stack integration.
• Deep understanding of performance profiling and optimization across application and database layers.
• Skilled in Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Nexus for DevOps and CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices, vulnerability management, and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Experience working in Agile environments, delivering high-quality software in iterative cycles.
• Self-driven and proactive, capable of working independently and owning end-to-end delivery.
• Familiarity with performance profiling tools and security tools such as Snyk and OWASP.
