IT Infrastrukturingenieur – Data protection (m/w/d) role at Hitachi Rail

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation and further development of infrastructure components in an enterprise environment.
• Ensure the reliable operation of IT-hosting platforms at various locations.
• Monitor ongoing operations, analyze problems and efficiently resolve incidents.
• Actively shape the further development of server infrastructure and optimize existing systems.
• Develop and test recovery strategies.
• Guide the entire lifecycle of IT systems—from initial installation through updates, maintenance, upgrades and migrations.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to steer and support IT projects.
• Coordinate with colleagues at national and international sites to guarantee a unified infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Completed degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification with extensive knowledge in operating and implementing complex server structures.
• Experience managing large, industrial system environments and in-depth knowledge of Windows Server (MCSA, Active Directory), virtualization with VMware and basic networking and cybersecurity fundamentals.
• Ideally experience with monitoring, storage (SAN/NAS), Veeam, backup, Citrix or cloud technologies.
• Self‑driven, structured and solution oriented; find pragmatic solutions for complex problems.
• Enjoy interacting with internal customers and stakeholders and willing to travel internationally occasionally.
• Fluent in German and English.
