Maintenance Engineer, Technical Service (m/f/d) - Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg
Join Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy as a Maintenance Engineer at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. You'll own the reliability of critical equipment systems - such as lifting systems (cranes, elevators, industrial doors and gates) or intralogistics assets (AGVs, dollies, forklifts, trailers, racks) - in our dynamic, high-volume manufacturing environment. This hands‑on role offers high visibility and direct impact on production uptime, safety, and efficiency.
What to Expect
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including manufacturing, logistics, EHS, and external partners, to troubleshoot issues, drive innovations, and ensure seamless operations in a fast‑paced setting where your technical expertise shapes our global supply chain.
What You'll Do
- System Ownership & Technical Leadership: Take full ownership of system availability, performance, and lifecycle management to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
- Lead root‑cause investigations and troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and control systems (e.g., sensors, drives, VFDs, safety circuits).
- Validate repairs, guide make‑vs‑buy decisions and implement sustainable fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Maintenance Strategy & Compliance: Design and execute preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance tasks to optimize equipment health.
- Ensure full compliance with German regulations (DGUV/UVV, BetrSichV/TRBS, DIN/EN standards) through audits, risk assessments, and documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive records, including SOPs, inspection logs, and data analytics, to support continuous improvement.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Partner with OEMs and service providers to define scopes, negotiate SLAs, evaluate offers, and resolve escalations efficiently.
- Align daily with manufacturing, logistics, EHS, and quality teams to prioritize risks, share insights, and execute field activities.
- Communicate technical updates clearly to technicians, supervisors, and leadership, fostering a collaborative problem‑solving culture.
- Spare Parts & Reliability Engineering: Develop and manage spare parts strategies, including critical spares inventory, stocking levels, and repair kits to support rapid response.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) like availability, MTTR, MTBF, and failure recurrence to inform data‑driven decisions.
- Spearhead small‑to‑medium‑scale reliability projects, from FMEA analysis to process optimizations, enhancing overall system resilience.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on experience in industrial settings.
- 3–7+ years in industrial maintenance, equipment engineering, or system ownership, with a track record of reducing downtime in manufacturing environments.
- Deep technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including sensors, drives, VFDs, PLCs, and safety interlocks.
- Proven ability to collaborate with OEMs, vendors, and cross‑functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Proactive, structured problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on approach; thrives in dynamic, high‑pressure situations.
- Excellent communication abilities to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); German proficiency (B2+ level) preferred for interactions with technicians and inspectors.
Nice to Have
- Direct experience with cranes, elevators, industrial doors/gates, AGVs, forklifts, or intralogistics systems.
- Proficiency with CMMS tools (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) for maintenance planning and tracking.
- Familiarity with reliability tools and methodologies, such as FMEA, RCFA, or RCM.
- Background in OEM commissioning, service engineering, or high‑volume automotive/manufacturing operations.
