(Senior) Developer (m/f/d) - Optimization & Quantum Algorithms

What you’ll do:
SAP is launching a bold, long-term initiative to explore the transformative potential of Quantum Technologies in enterprise software. As a Senior Developer with the SCM Optimization & Quantum team, you will play a key role within the SCM Optimization organization, contributing to evolve the algorithms of the SCM Optimization & Data Science technology to become truly “quantum-native”.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing and enhancing high-quality, scalable, and maintainable Quantum and classical Optimization Algorithms that fit into the SAP Optimization architectural framework
- Collaborating with product owners, senior developers, and quality engineers to translate business requirements into high-quality end-to-end features across the different Optimization engines and domains.
- Ensuring software quality through state-of-the-art testing methodologies and code reviews, contributing to quality assurance and system performance
- Supporting cloud deployment models, contributing to extensibility concepts (in-app and side-by-side) and lifecycle management.
- Mentoring junior developers, providing technical guidance and fostering knowledge-sharing within the team.
- Facilitating innovation by exploring new areas of development, participating in the wider industrial and academic ecosystem around Operations Research and Quantum Computing
- Taking ownership of deliverables, from technical design to post-release support, ensuring high customer satisfaction and minimal business disruption.
- Continuously learning and adapting to evolving SAP technologies, tools, and best practices to ensure future-proof solutions.
What You Bring:
- min. 2 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on Operations Research and Quantum Optimization.
- Expertise in modern C++ development
- Good analytical and debugging skills, with the willingness to understand complex business processes and translate them into clean, efficient code.
- Commitment to software quality, including unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to clean code principles and SAP development guidelines.
- Experience with development workflows and modern ALM tools
- Good collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across global, cross-functional teams.
- A proactive mindset, with the initiative to continuously improve products, processes, and skills.
- Professional and structured working style
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment that crosses organizational boundaries while managing complex, global stakeholder networks.
- Ph.D or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics with specialization in either Operations Research or Quantum Computing.
