The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) - Communication Department (COM) - Publishing Division (PUB) - Digital Production, Social Media and Marketing Unit (DPS) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2026)

Objective of the traineeship
This traineeship will provide hands-on experience working in an EU institution’s external communications team. You’ll build your skills and knowledge while also contributing fresh ideas to develop how the Bank uses social media. Working in our Communications Department you will help develop how we communicate with younger audiences across the EU, especially through visual formats, like short-form vertical video content. You’ll support the creation of messaging and scripts tailored to under 35s, while staying on top of social media trends and platform changes. In return, you’ll learn how social media works in a large organisation - covering copywriting, content creation, internal advocacy/training, approval workflows, performance metrics, and paid promotion.
Responsibilities
As a trainee, your main responsibilities will be:
Be an active member of the social media and wider marketing team, responsible for creating content and developing online community. Create content for various platforms, including video formats, in collaboration with team members. Monitor and report on social media trends and platform changes. Take part in representing EIB Group events online. Support the team in developing new approaches to video storytelling. Contribute to content planning and production workflows. Track performance metrics and prepare basic reports.Support paid advertising campaigns on social platforms.
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
Final year of studies or University degree in field relevant to either communications (or adjacent subject), marketing or an EU institutional related field (e.g. political science, economics, etc.).Active user of social media, with a solid understanding of platform-specific trends, audience behaviours, and content formats. Able to spot emerging features and adapt messaging to fit different channels like Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
