⚡ Senior Secondary Electrical Engineer – High Voltage / Substations

Location: Frankfurt / Mannheim / Nuremberg region (On-site, Germany only)

About the Role

We are supporting a leading German engineering group that’s driving the energy transition through major substation, BESS, and renewable grid connection projects across Germany.

They are now seeking a Senior Secondary Electrical Engineer to take technical ownership of HV substation design (110–380kV) — a pivotal position with both depth and leadership influence in project delivery and system design.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee design, planning, and implementation of secondary systems for 110–380kV substations
• Produce and review single-line diagrams (SLDs) , protection schemes, and interface designs
• Drive technical decision-making for protection, control, and automation systems
• Ensure compliance with German VDE, IEC and grid operator standards
• Support and mentor junior and intermediate engineers, guiding best practices in secondary design
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across electrical, civil, and automation disciplines
• Champion innovation and standardisation in HV project design

What We’re Looking For

• Currently based in Germany (mandatory – relocation from abroad not considered at this stage)
• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Energy Technology
• Extensive commercial experience in high-voltage substation design and secondary systems in Germany
• Expert understanding of German grid codes , protection systems , and HV/MV/LV interfaces
• Familiarity with TÜV or switching certifications (e.g. up to 31kV / 50kV)
• Strong communication skills in German (B2 or ideally higher) and English
• A self-driven, precise, and solution-oriented professional with a track record of delivering technically demanding projects
