As we launch our German subsidiary in the logistics heart of Central Germany, we are looking for a Customs Manager to lead our local operations, maintain compliance, and oversee our customs footprint in the German market.

Your Responsibilities

Company Representation: Act as the primary point of contact and authorized representative for the company before the General Directorate of Customs (Generalzolldirektion) and local Main Customs Offices (Hauptzollämter).
Operational Setup: Lead the process of obtaining and maintaining necessary local authorizations, including EORI registration , AEO (C/S) status , and comprehensive guarantees for the German legal entity.
Strategic Oversight: Manage workflows for high‑volume B2C E‑commerce clearances (H7/IOSS ) and Standard Import/Export Declarations (H1/B1 ).
Hands‑on Capability: While daily data entry is not the primary focus, you must be fully proficient in executing declarations via ATLAS personally when operational needs, complex cases, or system testing require it.
System Management: Utilize both local German customs software and our proprietary platform; provide expert input to ensure seamless connectivity and automated filing with the national ATLAS system .
Compliance: Oversee Tariff Classification (HS codes), Rules of Origin, and Import VAT (EUST) requirements to ensure error‑free operations and successful customs audits.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain professional rapport with local Customs Houses (e.g., HZA Erfurt/Dresden or the customs office at Leipzig/Halle Airport ).

Our Requirements

Expertise: Deep, practical experience with the German ATLAS (Automatisiertes Tarif‑ und Lokales Zollabwicklungssystem) system. You are an expert in H1 (Standard Customs Clearance), H7 (Low‑Value), and NCTS (Transit) procedures.
Qualifications: A degree in foreign trade, logistics, or a specialized certification as a Zollfachkraft / Zolldeklarant . Proven experience acting as a responsible person for customs purposes in a German entity is essential.
E‑commerce Familiarity: Strong knowledge of the IOSS (Import One‑Stop Shop) scheme and specialized H7 datasets for low‑value consignments is a significant advantage.
Communication: Professional fluency in German (for legal/official filings and authorities) and English (for internal reporting and global collaboration).
Mindset: You are a "playing coach"—an expert who enjoys high‑level strategy and compliance but isn't afraid to navigate the ATLAS interface to resolve a technical filing issue.
