    As part of RTG 2951 "Cross-border Labour Markets: Transnational Market Makers, Infrastructures, Institutions," funded by DFG, up to 6 doctoral research positions are available.

    The RTG is a joint program of Bielefeld University and the University of Duisburg-Essen, starting from April 1, 2026. It offers 11 positions for doctoral researchers, focusing on cross-border labour markets, transnational infrastructures, institutions, and the roles of market makers. Projects adopting institutionalist perspectives or focusing on virtual work are particularly encouraged.

    Your main tasks

    • Conduct research related to the RTG's programme and produce reports and journal articles
    • Participate in RTG courses and events
    • Contribute to the development of the RTG qualification programme

    Employment supports scientific qualification.

    Your profile

    • Completed university degree (e.g., Master) in sociology, economics, social anthropology, or a related social science (8 semesters)
    • Open-mindedness and commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration
    • Excellent English skills (written and spoken)
    • Independent and committed working style
    • Team-oriented approach
    • Research experience or relevant preliminary work (desirable)
