API & AI Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) - Remote

As an API & AI Senior Engineer (f/m/d), you'll be a core member of our API & AI development team. You'll drive technical excellence and leverage AI and automation to position us as Europe's leading ERP & Agentic Commerce AI platform. With your expertise in software development, prompt engineering, and process automation, you'll ensure the optimal execution and scalability of our company strategies.

Your Tasks

• API development: Design, develop, and maintain our core RESTful APIs using AI-powered development tools.
• AI-driven development: Lead strategic initiatives in AI adoption, mentor engineers, and identify improvement areas using AI tools.
• Agentic Commerce: Drive initiatives to evolve Xentral ERP into an Agentic Commerce platform by building APIs for agents, implementing MCP services, and creating integrations.
• Operational Support: Act as the technical point of contact for the API & AI team, collaborating with PMs to ensure effective utilization of our tech stack and maintainable, scalable codebases.

Your Profile

• 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer on large-scale applications, with strong architectural skills and guidance abilities.
• Deep knowledge of REST API design, authentication, security, JSON, OpenAPI, and API standards.
• Experience with PHP and frameworks like Laravel; Go knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to modernize legacy codebases while ensuring high standards for quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to work independently, take ownership, and proactively solve problems. Fluent English required; German is a plus.
