MathWorks has a hybrid work model that enables staff members to split their time between office and home. The hybrid model provides the advantage of having both in-person time with colleagues and flexible at-home life optimizations.

You are a self-driver with a background in engineering or sciences and are passionate about impacting education. You enjoy tackling technical problems and interacting with people. Does this sound like you? Read on.

In this role you are a primary technical point of contact for universities in Germany. It is your responsibility to empower researchers and educators to solve their technical and business challenges. You demonstrate the value of MATLAB and Simulink and leverage your insight into academia to paint a vision of how MathWorks fosters success in education and discovery, grow tool adoption in teaching and research, and renew campus-wide licensing agreements.

This is a temporary position to cover parental leave until end of August 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and strategize with the territory team, using data‑driven account assessments to develop a strategy to engage with universities in your territory to increase tool usage and adoption in engineering and science.
  • Execute the plan, review progress, and regularly adapt the strategy with the team.
  • Engage with university customers by establishing business relationships with leadership, senior faculty, and individual academics; address their needs and support integration of our tools in teaching and research.
  • Grow partners to become MathWorks advocates on‑campus and advocate on behalf of your customers to influence the future of MathWorks offerings.
  • Foster collaboration and enable customer‑facing teams; resourcefulness is a must‑have for this role.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (e.g., mechanical, electrical, or aerospace engineering) or related field.
  • In‑depth technical expertise in control design, physical modeling, or systems engineering.
  • First‑hand teaching experience as a course instructor or teaching assistant.
  • First‑hand experience as a researcher or research assistant.
  • Working experience with MATLAB & Simulink, ideally in a teaching and/or research context.
  • Experience with and enjoyment of working with remote teams.
  • Excellent cross‑culture communication skills.
  • Full working proficiency in German and English; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Authorized to work in Germany.
