Application Support Engineer – Contract (Remote, Germany) Location: Germany Contract: 12 months (likely extension)Day rate: ~€370/day Start: ASAP The Opportunity We’re working with a global telecom software vendor that partners with one of Germany’s leading mobile operators to deliver a next-generation, cloud-native charging platform used to monetise 5G and digital services in real time. They’re looking for an Application Support Engineer to help ensure the platform runs smoothly in production, own incidents, resolve issues under SLAs, and support day-to-day operations across a modern, containerised environment. Key Responsibilities Support and maintain a real-time charging / billing platform used by a Tier-1 telecom operator.Handle incidents, root-cause analysis, and resolution within agreed SLAs.Perform BAU configuration changes, testing, and deployments following approved MOPs (Method of Procedure).Troubleshoot issues across containers, services, and integrations (Kubernetes, Kafka, REST APIs, databases).Work closely with internal engineering teams and external vendor experts to resolve complex technical issues.Monitor system health and performance using Prometheus, Grafana, and related tools.Document actions, maintain audit trails, and contribute to operational runbooks. Technical Environment Containers & Cloud: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, GKE, Google Cloud (cloud-native stack)Messaging & Data: Kafka, HBase, ActiveMQScripting & Automation: Python, Bash, PerlMonitoring: Prometheus, GrafanaTelecom Protocols: Diameter, Sy/Gx, OCS/CCS, 5GOperating Systems: Linux (RHEL/CentOS)Process: ITIL-aligned, SLA-driven production support Ideal Background Experience supporting telecom or BSS/OSS platforms, ideally online charging or billing systems.Hands-on exposure to Kubernetes / Docker / Helm in production.Proficient in Python or Bash scripting for triage and automation.Understanding of Kafka, HBase, and telecom protocols (Diameter, Sy/Gx, 5G).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Based in Germany and able to attend occasional on-site meetings as required.
