Associate (Director), Asset Management (m/f/d)

Contract: Permanent | Working Modul: Office (8 days/month home office possible)

As of 31 December 2024, AEW managed €36.8bn of real estate assets in Europe on behalf of a number of funds and separate accounts. AEW has 515 employees based in 11 offices across Europe and has a long track record of successfully implementing Core, Value-Add and Opportunistic investment strategies on behalf of its clients. In the last five years, AEW has invested and divested a total volume of almost €15bn of real estate across European markets.

AEW Invest GmbH is a BaFin regulated entity with offices in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich and manages around € 8bn of assets across Europe via real estate special AIFs and separate accounts on behalf of its clients.

Your Responsibilities

  • Identification and implementation of value creation potentials of the portfolio based on feasibility and market analyses
  • Select, coordinate and monitor several external service providers, incl. property management, lawyers, technical advisors, brokers, architects, etc.
  • Be the main point of contact for tenants and all other stakeholders around the properties
  • Lead the letting activity including negotiation of new lease agreements and renewals, as well as monitoring of external brokers
  • Assign and monitor technical measures (maintenance and repair, capex, ESG) in coordination with Technical Asset Management
  • Take over newly acquired assets, including the setup and review of asset-/company documentation
  • Be in charge of the planning process through preparation of annual business plans at asset level as well as the comparison with actual figures to assess the performance of our assets
  • Support executing the firms’ and funds’ ESG strategy in coordination with the Fund Management and ESG/SRI departments to ensure alignment with sustainability initiatives
  • Closely cooperation with all functions at AEW (e.g. Investment, Fund Management, Fund Operations, Sustainability) as well as external service providers
  • Initiate and lead sales processes for individual assets or portfolios

Your Competencies

  • Graduated from Business school or University in real estate, business administration, economics, finance, or a similar field of study
  • Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in a comparable asset management position with responsibility for office, retail or residential assets
  • Proficiency in real estate asset management as well as a good understanding of economic and financial interrelationships
  • Excellent knowledge of all common Microsoft 365 applications (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Language skills: German, English, French is a plus
  • You have an existing network in the real estate industry
  • You are self-motivated with strong analytical and communicational skills combined with goal-oriented working methods and a strong sense of team spirit; proven intercultural experience is a plus
  • You have strong negotiation skills, and you have good legal understanding to successfully negotiate lease agreements
