Duties

• Develop courses for EVA qualification for astronauts.
• Implement courses for EVA qualification for astronauts and ground support personnel.
• Act as EVA Lead Instructor for ESA.
• Define and supervise training programmes and certification for support diver personnel.
• Lead the NBF Team and manage related service contracts.
• Supervise and execute Neutral Buoyancy Facility maintenance and improvements.
• Coordinate with NASA and other international partner training organisations for EVA.
• Develop new training tools and solutions for future exploration missions to and beyond low Earth orbit.
• Define, plan, and coordinate aircraft flight skill training for astronauts.
• Select and supervise contractors for aircraft flight skill training.
• Define, plan, and coordinate familiarisation and skills training for weightlessness on parabolic flights.
• Contribute to the communication activities of the Directorate.

Technical Competencies

• Extensive experience in operational SCUBA diving.
• Experience as a SCUBA diving instructor (PADI or similar).
• Experience in spaceflight operations or spaceflight training.
• Experience in coordinating operational campaigns with multiple participants.
• Experience in parabolic flights.

Education

A master’s degree is required for this post.
