As an Automation Engineer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of U.S. Army Europe & AFRICOM. You will play a crucial role in providing mission command support.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop automation solutions: Identify opportunities for automation within IT operations, development, and business processes. This includes creating automated scripts, frameworks, and tools to meet specific business needs.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines: Automate the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) process to ensure that applications are built, tested, and released efficiently.
- Conduct automated testing: Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts and test plans for software and web applications which involves identifying, tracking, and debugging software defects.
- Automate infrastructure tasks: Use automation to provision, configure, and manage IT infrastructure, including servers, cloud environments, and network components to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Optimize and maintain systems: Monitor the performance of automated systems and provide ongoing maintenance and technical support. This includes troubleshooting issues, debugging systems, and integrating new upgrades.
- Collaborate with teams: Work closely with developers, IT operations, and product teams to gather requirements, understand workflows, and implement effective automation strategies.
- Ensure security and compliance: Implement security automation to detect and prevent threats, respond to incidents, and maintain system compliance.
- Create and maintain documentation: Develop clear and comprehensive documentation for automated processes, technical specifications, and system configurations to support knowledge sharing and future maintenance.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is typically preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years experience
- Technical skills:
- Programming languages: Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, or Bash; Operating systems: Strong knowledge of operating systems, including Linux/Unix and Windows; Automation tools and frameworks: Experience with automation frameworks and tools, which may include:
- CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions
- Testing frameworks: Selenium, Appium
- Configuration management: Terraform, Ansible
- Cloud environments: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Security clearance level: Top Secret Clearance
- US citizenship required
- Role requirements: Agile methodologies: Experience working in an Agile or DevOps environment; Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are essential for identifying automation opportunities and collaborating with other teams.
- Certifications: Candidate must obtain DoD 8140 IAT Level II prior to starting; Candidate must obtain ITIL Foundation certification within 90 days of hire.
- Candidate must be able to meet German TESA requirements.
