We are looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer with a strong background in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to design and implement our AVD production environment from the ground up.

This is not just fine-tuning an existing setup — the project requires building a complete AVD infrastructure, preparing a Golden Image with all required software, ensuring secure video conferencing tunnels, and integrating key business applications like Salia and AMS Finance.



Responsibilities
Infrastructure Setup
• Design and deploy a production-ready AVD environment in Azure (VNETs, subnets, NSGs, host pools, autoscaling).
• Configure secure tunneling / gateway to ensure stable performance for video calls (Teams, Webex, Zoom) inside the AVD environment.
• Implement storage (Premium File Storage) and profile management with FSLogix.
• Set up backup and recovery strategies (Recovery Vault, snapshots).

Golden Image Development
• Build a clean and optimized Windows 10/11 multi-session Golden Image.
• Install and configure all required software silently, including:
  • Microsoft 365 (Shared Computer Licensing)
  • Microsoft Teams (VDI-optimized client)
  • FSLogix 2.9
  • Adobe Reader, Google Chrome, 7-Zip, Paint.NET
  • OBS Studio, Spotify
  • Webex (Placetel, VDI-enabled)
  • Salia (insurance software)
  • AMS Finance (Firebird DB client)
• Ensure applications run correctly in multi-session mode and survive Sysprep generalization.

Server & Database Integration
• Set up a Firebird database VM for Salia and AMS Finance, accessible only from AVD hosts.
• Configure firewall rules, NSGs, and private endpoints for secure database connectivity.
• Validate performance and user access for financial workflows.

Optimization & Documentation
• Optimize session performance (profile load times, login optimization).
• Document all steps in a Tenant Wiki / knowledge base.
• Provide handover documentation for ongoing management.


Required Skills & Experience
• Proven experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) deployment in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking (VNETs, NSGs, VPN/ExpressRoute, private endpoints).
• Experience with Golden Image creation and silent software deployment.
• Deep understanding of FSLogix profile containers.
• Practical experience with financial or insurance software deployment (ideally Salia and AMS Finance).
• Strong troubleshooting skills for performance issues (login, profiles, video/audio quality).
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, or ARM/Bicep templates for automation.
• Excellent English (German is a plus).

FSLogix & Profiles
• How do you configure FSLogix VHDX containers to avoid login delays?
• What troubleshooting steps do you take if profiles fail to mount?

• How do you ensure Teams/Webex video calls work smoothly in an AVD environment?
• What is the difference between using AVD Multimedia Redirection vs. tunneling?

Database Integration
• How would you configure a Firebird database VM to be securely accessible only from AVD session hosts?
• Have you previously deployed Salia or AMS Finance? If not, how would you approach testing unknown finance software in AVD?

Automation & Documentation
• Which tools do you use to automate AVD deployments (PowerShell, ARM, Bicep, Terraform)?
• How do you structure handover documentation for cloud environments?
