Overview

We’re looking for a highly motivated Big Data Developer/Engineer to join our international team building reliable applications for processing sensitive data in a Big Data environment. If you are interested in financial markets, fascinated by technology, and thrive in a stimulating environment, you are the person we are looking for.

You’ll be part of the StatistiX division within the Clearing and Risk IT department of the Deutsche Börse Group. StatistiX is the central data warehouse and data platform, providing insightful data to internal and external users on a global scale.

Responsibilities

Build software based on requirements from functional and business experts.
Design, code, test, debug, document and support Big Data applications with a focus on MiFID/MiFIR regulatory reporting.
Provide recommendations and feedback on solution design and development to facilitate team growth.
Become a competent expert responsible for specific applications and technologies, delivering valuable input to the functional team.
Ensure high‑quality standards throughout the development process, from conceptual design to production deployment.
Contribute to a data mesh architecture by supporting the design, implementation and optimization of data products.

Qualifications

University degree in Computer Science or a related technical subject.
At least three years of software development experience.
Interest in or basic knowledge of financial markets.
Proven experience with Scala and Spark, or familiarity with other object‑oriented languages such as Java, C++, Python.
Hands‑on experience with hyperscalers such as Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure.
Independent, solution‑oriented mindset with responsible and pragmatic thinking.
Familiarity with technologies used by the team (GitHub, Jira, Oracle SQL, Control‑M, Jenkins, Kafka, etc.) is an advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German is a plus.
Willingness to learn new technologies and business matters, and to help the team reach the next level.
