Chief Accountant

We are seeking a Chief Accountant to join our European finance team. In this pivotal role, you will manage all activities related to general ledger accounting, reporting, and analysis in line with IFRS, German Commercial Code (HGB), and tax regulations. You will act as a key interface between accounting and other departments (cost accounting, controlling, HR, taxes), ensuring smooth and efficient month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings across multiple European sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the determination and posting of general ledger items for multiple European subsidiaries.
• Analyze deviations in the balance sheet and P&L accounts; ensure consistency across general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and profit center accounting.
• Prepare personnel provisions and accruals based on actuarial reports or HR calculations.
• Independently prepare accurate, complete, and timely reporting for IFRS consolidated financial statements, following Group accounting guidelines.
• Process data reports for European sites, coordinating with local contacts and external service providers in German and English.
• Participate in initiatives to optimize and improve accounting processes.
• Serve as a bridge between accounting and other departments to ensure seamless closing processes.

Required Skills

• Native German speaker with fluent English.
• Extensive experience in IFRS and HGB accounting.
• Proven ability to handle multi-entity financial reporting.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience coordinating with external service providers and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work onsite in Weiterstadt 4 days per week.
