Commissioning Engineer position at Mercury – Frankfurt, Germany.

Key Responsibilities Of The Role

  • Active participation in the development of the Cx related activities within project schedule and programme. Close coordination with all facets of the project team to ensure that stakeholders (external & internal) requirements and needs are considered, with cognisance of the contract documentation.
  • Review IFC Design and produce a report regarding risk and opportunity that presents.
  • Develop and coordinate a Cx tracking schedule to include all mechanical systems and their integration to/from electrical equipment/systems.
  • Attend weekly coordination, design, integration, discipline, OFCI & CFCI meetings with the aim of adding value to all elements that may relate to Cx & Testing activity on the project.
  • Attend Factory Witness Testing (FWT) by requirement.
  • Chair or Co-Chair a weekly Cx Management Meeting with Sub contractors and Vendors. Minutes of Meeting (MOM) to be recorded and circulated promptly.
  • Review and comment on all related Technical Submissions & RFIs.
  • Review and comment on all Vendor testing scripts.
  • Review and comment on all Cx related RAMS.
  • Review all test packs presented by sub-contractors and vendors to ensure testing aligns with design criteria and compliance to employer’s requirements, best practice, and local/international standards.
  • Witness testing and Cx activities in the field and report on them.
  • Monitor construction-related activity with Mechanical, Electrical and CSA discipline leads to ensure there are no gaps in scope, missed opportunities or risks to programme based on variance.
  • Coordinate with the Integration Team to capture cross-programme deliverables, including Beneficial Use areas.
  • Familiarise with Mercury Way, SharePoint, EIDA and all interfaces/repositories used on the project. Training will be provided.
  • Maintain a daily diary and issue a weekly report (format to be agreed with Line Manager).
  • Coordinate the Cx Process and Activities by CFCI, OFCI Vendors on the project, with support and reporting from Level 0 to Level 5.
  • Lead project handover/turnover packs at each level of the Cx Tagging Process and act as signatory for the Mechanical Cx Form in EIDA.
  • Analyse functional performance logs and monitoring data to verify system performance (in conjunction with the BMS contractor on main plant).
  • Counter-sign testing and commissioning certification.
  • Carry out QAQC inspections onsite and at Vendor factories as required to ensure compliance with documented submissions, company standards and expectations.

Essential Criteria For The Role

  • Degree in Engineering and at least 3 years’ experience in a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer role on large-scale industrial projects.
  • Thorough understanding of building regulations and European standards, codes and practices.
  • Ability to manage and execute a full IST and previous experience is essential.
  • Development of IST documentation and management of completion on a digital platform.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks to meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels and the ability to report to management and client.
  • Ability to produce detailed reports, presentations, and assignments to a high standard.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate with clients and contract vendors to ensure specifications are adhered to and all plant/equipment is commissioned on time in line with tagging/commissioning processes.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and to know when and who to delegate to.
  • Strong teamwork and social skills; ability to lead, manage and motivate the team.
  • Excellent time management skills and ambition to succeed and progress.
  • Passion for delivering results.
