Their work bridges the gap between research and industrial application, supporting customers in improving the performance and reliability of semiconductor materials and manufacturing processes.

With several sites across Germany, the company fosters a collaborative environment that values technical excellence, innovation, and scientific curiosity. They are now searching for a Computational Imaging / Image-Processing Engineer to add to their growing team of specialists!

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-speed image stitching and real-time image processing pipelines for wafer-scale data streams.
  • Develop and validate algorithms for defect classification that use optical stress measurements (SIRD) and other imaging modalities.
  • Implement machine-vision solutions: adaptive filtering, pattern recognition, feature extraction, and tracking for high-throughput wafer analysis.
  • Integrate multimodal metrology data (optical, spectral, topographic) into unified analysis and visualization workflows.
  • Work closely with hardware, optics, and product teams to deploy algorithms on instrument PCs and edge/GPU platforms.
  • Build test suites, benchmarking tools and performance dashboards; participate in code reviews and CI/CD practices.
  • Present results internally and externally; contribute to customer demos and technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. / M.A. (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical/Optical Engineering, Physics or related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in machine-vision systems and high-bandwidth / high-frame-rate image processing.
  • Strong programming skills (Python and/or C++, experience with OpenCV or scikit-image).
  • Fluent English and readiness to travel occasionally.
  • Experience in optical metrology and wafer/semiconductor imaging workflows (SIRD, PL/EL, reflectometry, Raman, etc.).
  • Familiarity with deep-learning frameworks (PyTorch / TensorFlow), model optimisation for inference (ONNX / TensorRT) and GPU acceleration (CUDA).
  • Experience with real-time/embedded deployment, containerisation (Docker), Linux systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Background in algorithm validation, statistical analysis, and robust dataset labelling for defect classification.
  • Knowledge of instrument control (LabVIEW, instrument SDKs) or integration with automation frameworks.
