Overview

Are you interested in taking your skills and career to the next level, while helping fight fraud in the cloud? You will be part of the Data Engineering team central to shaping the definition and execution of the long-term data and insights strategy for AWS Payments and Fraud.

We are looking for an exceptional Data Engineer who is passionate about data and the insights that large data sets can provide. The ideal candidate has both a data engineering background and strong business acumen to think strategically. You will collaborate with BI Engineers, Data Scientists, ML Scientists, Business Analysts, Product Managers, and other stakeholders across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve the current data architecture, data quality, monitoring, and data availability
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit our data sets for statistical analysis, prediction, clustering, and machine learning
• Partner with Data Scientists and Business Analysts to build and verify hypotheses to protect AWS services and customers from fraud
• Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, simplifying self-service support for customers
• Keep up to date with advances in big data technologies and run pilots to design the data architecture to scale with increased data from customer experience on AWS

Basic qualifications

• This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state
• 3+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
• Experience with SQL
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Apache Spark / EMR
• Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

AWS Fraud Prevention’s mission is to protect AWS and its customers from fraudulent and abusive behaviors. The team works to prevent access to AWS via sign-up, detect fraud with machine learning models, contain risky accounts, investigate suspicious activity, and remediate fraud within AWS.
