Data Engineer, AWS Fraud Prevention

You will be part of the Data Engineering that is central in shaping the definition and execution of the long-term data and insights strategy for AWS Payments and Fraud team.

We are looking for an exceptional Data Engineer who is passionate about data and the insights that large amounts of data sets can provide. The ideal candidate will possess both a data engineering background and a strong business acumen that enables them to think strategically.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Develop and improve the current data architecture, data quality, monitoring, and data availability
• Collaborate with Data Scientists to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit our rich data sets for statistical analysis, prediction, clustering, and machine learning
• Partner with Data Scientists and Business Analysts across teams to build and verify hypotheses to protect AWS services and customers from fraud
• Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, simplifying self-service support for customers
• Keep up to date with advances in big data technologies and run pilots to design the data architecture to scale with the increased data sets of customer experience on AWS

About the Team

AWS Fraud Prevention's mission is to protect AWS and its customers from the cost, inconvenience, and damage due to fraudulent and abusive behaviors.

Basic Qualifications

• This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state
• 3+ years of data engineering experience
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
• Experience with SQL
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Apache Spark / Elastic Map Reduce
• Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
