Job Title: Data Platform Engineer (Databricks)
Rate: Up to 35 Euros/hour
Location: Remote
Contract Length: 12-24 months



A European consultancy are seeking a Databricks focused Data Engineer to join the team on a long term 12-24 month contract.

The aim of the role is to support internal teams in selecting, configuring and effectively using a cloud-based data and analytics platform, with a strong focus on infrastructure setup, onboarding processes and data engineering readiness.



Core Responsibilities
• Technical onboarding support Guide internal teams through the technical onboarding process and help ensure they understand how to use the platform effectively.
• Platform configuration Set up and configure workspaces, including access controls and related network components. This aspect of the role is especially valued.
• Infrastructure automation Maintain, automate and extend infrastructure components (such as those managed through Infrastructure-as-Code tools). Although this is not the primary focus, it forms an important part of the role.
• Code-level contribution and flexibility Implement small to medium-scale code components (such as scripts, utilities or automation logic), even beyond one’s core technology stack. Support integration tasks and troubleshoot platform-related technical issues.
• Foundational data engineering support Assist with setting up data pipelines, creating tables and ensuring essential data workflows function correctly. While not the main focus, practical experience in this area is appreciated.
• Collaboration and documentation Work closely with cross-functional teams, participate in virtual meetings, and contribute to internal documentation and knowledge-sharing platforms once onboarded.


Essential Skills and Experience:
• Strong knowledge of Databricks
• Workspace setup and configuration
• Access and data governance tools (basic knowledge is sufficient)
• Understanding of platform-related networking
• Hands-on DevOps approach
• Ability to work independently on infrastructure and platform enablement tasks
• Proactive support for internal stakeholders
• Foundational data engineering capabilities
• Ability to create tables and pipelines within the platform
• Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
• Practical experience using tools such as Terraform to manage cloud infrastructure
• Willingness to incorporate IaC into regular tasks (though this is not the majority of the role)
• Clear communication and enablement mindset
• Comfortable working with diverse, international internal teams
• Able to explain platform concepts and best practices clearly, including trade-offs and advantages
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach
• Enjoys exchanging ideas and discussing both day-to-day tasks and broader architectural topics
• Values teamwork and thrives in a dynamic, inclusive, and internationally focused environment


Desirable Experience
• Demonstrated experience in large-scale automation using Infrastructure-as-Code
• Familiarity with MLOps practices (not currently a core requirement but may become relevant in future phases)
