Data Modeler / DWH Developer

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler / DWH Developer to join a project for a client in the insurance sector. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data models that support data warehousing solutions, with a strong focus on ensuring data quality, consistency, and availability. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in data architecture, modeling methodologies, and a good understanding of the insurance industry, enabling them to efficiently extract and analyze data from source systems and conduct thorough testing to validate model accuracy. A perfect candidate should be based in one of the following countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, or Bulgaria.


Key Responsibilities:
• Design and deliver conceptual, logical, and physical data models to power data warehousing solutions, with a strong focus on insurance operations (experience in banking can be considered as an alternative).
• Partner closely with business analysts, architects, and IT teams to translate insurance or financial services business needs into robust data models.
• Conduct thorough system analysis to locate, assess, and extract high-quality, relevant data from source systems, ensuring accuracy in insurance-related domains such as policy, claims, underwriting, and customer data.
• Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability, applying standards and best practices aligned to the insurance (or banking) industry.
• Perform in-depth data profiling and quality checks to safeguard data integrity, particularly in compliance-sensitive environments.
• Validate data models through rigorous testing, confirming they meet business and performance requirements.
• Collaborate with ETL teams to ensure seamless implementation within data warehousing platforms.
• Maintain and enhance data models as business processes evolve, ensuring documentation is always up to date.
• Contribute to data governance initiatives to ensure compliance with industry regulations and corporate policies.


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Proven track record in data modeling and data warehousing, with at least 2 years in the insurance sector; strong candidates with relevant banking experience will also be considered.
• Expertise in modeling techniques (normalization, denormalization, star schema, snowflake schema).
• Proficiency with industry-standard modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, Sparx Enterprise Architect).
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with major database systems (SQL Server, Oracle).
• Understanding of ETL processes and tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Talend).
• Knowledge of data governance and quality frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience in developing and executing comprehensive test plans for data model validation.
• Language skills: English – at least C1 level; Proficiency in speaking one of the following languages: Czech, Slovak, Romanian, Hungarian, or Bulgarian


Preferred Skills:
• Deep domain expertise in insurance operations, systems, and regulations.
• Experience with cloud data solutions (Azure, AWS) and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
