Data Protection Expert (Freelance)

Our direct automotive customer is in the process of becoming independent as part of a larger organizational transformation. Within this framework, the company is establishing its own Data Protection organization.

Several app implementations are currently planned, which require data protection approvals . While urgent matters are still handled with support from the old organization, our customer aims to set up an alternative solution to ensure capacity and independence.

As a Data Protection Expert (Freelancer) , you will support building its Data Protection organization and provide expertise for app implementation projects with a focus on data protection approvals.

Project Start : Mid-September 2025

Duration : 2–3 months (extension possible)

Workload : approx. 5–10 hours per week

Location : Remote (fully)

Languages : English (fluent), German (nice to have)

Tasks

• Provide consulting and hands-on support for data protection requirements in app implementation projects
• Conduct and document data protection assessments (e.g., DPIA, DSFA, TOMs)
• Prepare and coordinate data protection approvals with internal stakeholders
• Act as a liaison with customers experts and cooperate closely with the incoming DPO (starting November 2025)
• Contribute to the setup of processes and structures for our customers independent Data Protection function

Requirements

Several years of professional experience in Data Protection (at least mid-level; not junior)

Strong knowledge of GDPR and proven experience in handling data protection approvals within international corporate environments

Ideally, experience with IT / app implementations and related data protection processes

Independent, structured way of working combined with a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset

Fluent English skills (mandatory); German language skills are a plus

Comfortable with remote collaboration and virtual stakeholder management
