Deputy Head of Finance – Munich, Germany
The Deputy Head of Finance is the right hand to the Country Head of Finance in Germany and acts as second‑in‑command, supporting all aspects of financial leadership. This role oversees financial management, reporting, compliance, and ERP implementation while deputising when required to ensure continuity of leadership. It is designed for a high‑potential finance professional ready to step into a Head of Finance role, combining strategic insight with hands‑on delivery to drive business performance.
Responsibilities
- Support monthly management accounts, KPI reporting, forecasting and statutory reporting.
- Oversee budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting, working‑capital management and financial analysis.
- Contribute to long‑term financial planning and capital expenditure evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with German tax regulations, audits and filings.
- Monitor and mitigate financial risks, insurance coverage and governance standards.
- Deputise for the Head of Finance in leadership forums and stakeholder meetings.
- Mentor and develop finance team members, building future leadership capability.
- Drive ERP (Microsoft D365) implementation and optimise financial systems.
- Partner cross‑functionally with operations, procurement and commercial teams to align priorities.
- Provide strategic insight and contribute to transformation initiatives, including crisis management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance or equivalent.
- Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
- Strong financial management and reporting expertise within a corporate setting.
- Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft D365, SAP, Oracle).
- Fluency in German (C1) and English (B2 or higher).
- Strong leadership potential with the ability to deputise and influence at senior levels.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Desirable: Experience in FMCG or complex international supply chain environments; proven record of business partnering with senior leadership.
