Description: I am looking for an experienced developer to build a prototype that allows Power BI Desktop to connect to a simulated Analysis Services server. The goal is to provide an XMLA endpoint that Power BI can recognize as a Tabular Model. Requirements: Develop an XMLA-compatible server (simulation only, not production). The server should accept requests from Power BI Desktop and respond with mock responses. The server should return a simulated Tabular Model, which can be minimal (e.g., just one table with column definitions, no actual data required). The focus is on interface functionality, not on real data or business logic. Goal: Power BI Desktop should be able to connect to the simulated XMLA server successfully. In the Power BI Navigator window, a Tabular Model should be visible. This prototype will serve as the foundation for future development. Qualifications: Strong experience with Microsoft Analysis Services / Tabular Models / XMLA Proficiency in server development (C#, .NET, or Node.js preferred) Familiarity with Power BI integration is a plus Ability to deliver a working prototype quickly and pragmatically Scope: Develop a working proof of concept Provide documentation on how to start the server and connect it with Power BI Additional Note: If the prototype is successfully delivered, there is the potential to extend this into a full project implementation.
