    Offer Description

    Wurtzite-structured ferroelectric thin films hold huge promise for future nanoscale
    electronics. Potential applications, such as nonvolatile memories, require full understanding
    on the reliability of the ferroelectric properties of these films. Additionally, conformal
    deposition techniques, such as atomic layer deposition (ALD), must be developed for
    patterning three-dimensional structures and enhance the read signal when integrating
    ferroelectric memories into arrays featuring ultra-scaled cell areas. Therefore, the main aim
    of the project is the development of ferroelectric thin films based on wurtzite-structured
    aluminum nitride (AlN) by ALD. The main tasks are developing an ALD process for the
    deposition of ferroelectric cation-substituted AlN thin films, integrating these films in
    capacitor structures, and characterizing the capacitors structurally and electrically. Further,
    the reliability performances of the new ferroelectrics will be evaluated for nonvolatile memory
    applications. The work will be performed in close collaboration with our international project
    partners. The results of the work might be used to obtain a PhD in electrical engineering at
    the Technical University Dresden.

    • Strong perseverance in experimental work.
    • Ability to work in an international team environment.


    The following Skills are a plus:

    • Experience with cleanroom processing.
    • Experience in electrical characterization of ferroelectrics.
