JupiterOne is a cyber asset attack surface management (CAASM) platform company providing visibility and security into your entire cyber asset universe. Using graphs and relationships, JupiterOne provides a contextual knowledge base for an organization's cyber asset operations. With JupiterOne, teams can discover, monitor, understand, and act on changes in their digital environments. Cloud resources, ephemeral devices, identities, access rights, code, pull requests, and much more are collected, graphed, and monitored automatically.

We are seeking an Engineering Leader to lead one of our core engineering groups, comprising 10-15 engineers, with a mix of employees and contract. You will be responsible for people management, technical leadership, and process optimization across a critical part of our platform.

Our tech stack includes Node.js and TypeScript on the backend, with services running in AWS Lambda, ECS, and EKS. The frontend is built with React and TypeScript. As we migrate more of our compute workloads to Kubernetes (EKS), we’re looking for someone who can guide both architecture and execution.

This role blends strategic leadership and technical acumen. We're looking for someone who has recent hands-on experience with our stack and can mentor senior engineers, influence technical direction, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and mentor multiple teams of engineers, including backend and full-stack developers, and manage the relationship and output of an outsourced teams.
• Ensure the teams you manage deliver on the priorities that drive business outcomes. 
• Provide technical direction and drive architecture decisions, especially as we refactor core services and shift more infrastructure to Kubernetes (EKS).
• Partner with the Head of Engineering and other leaders to shape our engineering roadmap and long-term vision.
• Instill best practices for software development, testing, and deployment in a growing engineering org.
• Own and evolve our service architecture with a focus on performance, maintainability, and reliability.
• Guide career development for your reports through coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Go-to-Market, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of features.
  

Requirements

Who You Are

• Experienced Engineering Leader: 3+ years in an engineering management or director role, managing teams of 5 or more engineers.
• Technically Current: You’ve written and shipped production code in Node.js and TypeScript in the last few years.
• Frontend-Savvy: Familiarity with React and TypeScript—enough to support and evaluate frontend work from your team and vendors.
• Cloud-Native Mindset: Comfortable designing, operating, and evolving services in AWS, with a strong understanding of Lambda, ECS, and EKS.
• Kubernetes Knowledge: Practical experience running workloads on Kubernetes (EKS) and a vision for what good infrastructure and DevOps look like at scale.
• Refactoring Veteran: You’ve led or contributed to large-scale refactoring efforts and know how to strike the balance between improvement and velocity.
• Strong Communicator: You are able to translate technical vision into actionable work and keep both engineers and stakeholders aligned.
• Execution-Focused: You understand how to balance long-term technical investments with the need to ship incrementally and deliver value.

• Experience managing distributed or outsourced teams
