Director of Chemistry

We are seeking an accomplished and innovative Director of Medicinal Chemistry to lead early-stage drug discovery initiatives. This role is ideal for a seasoned chemist with deep expertise in organic chemistry, drug design, and molecular modeling, and a proven track record in advancing therapeutic compounds from concept to candidate stage.

As Director of Medicinal Chemistry, you will drive the design and optimization of molecules with potential to become safe and effective medications. You will lead project planning, synthesis strategies, and structure-activity relationship (SAR) analyses while collaborating closely with biologists, technology experts, and fellow chemists. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration will be essential to your success.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and synthesis of novel small molecules for drug discovery
• Analyze structure-activity relationships (SAR) to optimize hits and lead compounds
• Guide the creation of tailored screening libraries for small molecule hit generation
• Develop and improve synthetic routes, coordinating with external partners as needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to drive projects forward
• Lead project planning, decision-making, and presentation of research findings
• Stay up-to-date with emerging scientific trends and technologies

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related discipline
• 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech research
• Proven track record leading drug discovery projects and delivering drug candidates
• Strong knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and molecular modeling/cheminformatics
