Opportunity
As the Director of Developer Relations, you will be responsible for building and managing a strategy focused on cultivating a thriving, engaged, and empowered developer ecosystem around the Canton Network. You will enable and engage a community spanning node operators, application developers and technical users by delivering resources, support, and opportunities for participation, recognizing and amplifying contributions by community members, and accelerating innovation, adoption, and value creation across the network.


You’ll own and develop the strategy for Canton Network’s developer community, putting a particular focus on fostering an active community of contributors which deliver scalable developer enablement for the community at large. Your success in this role will directly shape Canton Network’s growth and market position while ensuring the community can become self-sustaining and self-supporting. Building strong relationships between the Canton Network developer community and Digital Asset’s teams will be essential as we advance our mission of building an open network for digital assets at scale.


Key Responsibilities
• Build and manage a strategy to establish and grow a core developer community for Canton Network that contributes significantly to broader community enablement and engagement.
• Increase the number and quality of code contributions - especially to education and enablement related code bases - to Canton Network.
• Grow the number of community members that regularly contribute on community channels, give talks, write blog posts, organize meetups, or otherwise advocate for Canton Network.
• Engage directly with contributors to Canton Network to help them grow in their activities. This will involve coaching them on contributions, helping them reach new levels of understanding and ability to contribute, and working alongside them to coordinate their work with the Digital Asset team.
• Collaborate across the contributor community and Digital Asset to make sure contributions are complimentary to each other and aligned with the overall goals and direction of the network.
• Over time, expand the activity of the contributor community to developer marketing and developer experience topics, fostering community members in their creation of curated technical content including blog posts, videos, demo, and presentations, and their contributions to developer experience in both tooling and core technology.
• Over time, expand the capabilities and activity of the contributor community to include contributions to the core open source technologies underlying the Canton Network.


Qualifications and Characteristics
• You are obsessed with making developers happy. You were a full-time developer in a previous life or code with a passion on the side. But you prefer to work with the developer community to improve experience and support through education.
• You have directly managed a sizable community of developers before (1000s of developers across 100s of entities). Bonus if this was in Finance or blockchain.
• You have successfully driven contributions through contributor and advocacy programmes, and managed the relationships across organizations in that context.
• You are analytical and data driven in your approach to building and nurturing communities.
• You have 5+ years of experience leading developer relations or community advocacy programs, preferably open source in nature.
• You have experience facilitating sensitive and complex community situations with humility, empathy, judgment, tact, and humor.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Willingness to transition from Digital Asset to one of the Foundations active in Canton Network, should Digital Asset and the Foundation decide to make that the permanent home of the developer community.
