The Sr. EHS Engineer will work in collaboration with Engineering organizations in EMEA to provide local support for EHS Engineering & Design. This candidate will assist with commissioning and operations at Tesla’s EMEA R&D location, and work to standardize practices with other regional R&D operations. The candidate will support management of change and new product, process, or equipment introduction, specifically pertaining to automated equipment and manual or semi-manual research and development processes. The candidate will also ensure regulatory compliance can be met in any new equipment and processes, facilities, and designs, perform process, equipment and occupational risk assessments, and implement EHS and industry best practices 
R&D Ops Support 
- Support day-to-day EHS operations and management in Tesla’s EMEA Engineering & Design organization 
 - Provide support for EHS programs such as LOTO, Machine Safety, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, Education / Training, Risk Assessment, Incident Analysis 
 - Implement Tesla’s Chemical Hygiene Plan at various laboratories across Tesla 
 - Coordinate with Global Shared Services teams (Hazwaste, Environmental, Compliance, Construction, etc.) 
 - Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of laboratory facilities, including Abuse Test & Engineering and Vehicle Engineering operations as they are planned at the Tesla Engineering Center in Berlin 
 - Lead EHS tool deployment for EMEA R&D and Engineering teams
Design and Engineering Support:  - Develop and implement structured and rigorous risk mitigation solutions for identified hazards alongside the engineering design team 
 - Provide safety input and assessment on process and equipment design by working closely with engineering teams 
 - Partner with Equipment Safety, Ergonomics and Process Safety engineering subject matter experts to review internal designs. 
 - Review equipment design to ensure equipment and tooling adheres to BImSchG, REACH, CLP, Seveso III, WHG, ISO, and other equipment, chemical, and electrical safety standards 
 - REACH/TSCA support 
 - B. S. in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Process Safety or other relevant major) 
 - 5+ years of relevant professional experience in an EHS Engineering position, with a focus on R&D 
 - Work experience in vehicle, battery, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or other high-tech manufacturing industry is preferred. 
 - Fluency in German and English language 
 - Certification or experience in German and European regulation, including DGUV, TÜV, TRBS, TRGS, BAuA 
 - Experience in facilitating risk assessment and process hazard assessment methodologies such as HAZIDs, HAZOPs, LOPAs, DHAs 
 - Working ability to read and understand Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural permit sets, CAD drawings, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) 
 - Experience creating technical specifications for dynamic applications 
 - Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production 
 - Experience with chemical process control and industrial heating system is a plus 
 - Working knowledge on emergency response related to energized equipment 
 - Experience in developing LOTO procedures, switching schemes, utility level clearances, as well as supporting the implementation of said procedures. 
 - Understanding of PLC programming and troubleshooting 
 - SiFa certification is a plus
