Key Responsibilities
- Adherence to the project & Mercury Engineering Safety Management System
- Adherence to relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions & legislation
- Adherence to Mercury Engineering & PSCS Environmental, Health & Safety Plans
- Assist with onboarding Mercury employees & Subcontractors as per legislation and MER Rules, ensuring all relevant documentation is in place
- Coordinate development of task-specific Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Safe Plan of Action, and Permit to Work
- Compliance with the project execution plan
- Coordinate project safety indicators
- Maintain good safety practices
- Ongoing COSHH assessments and control of hazardous substances
- Ensure safety interventions are completed and registered
- Carry out regular site audits and inspections, document results and follow up on corrective actions
- Maintain records of statutory inspections for project activities, tools and plant
- Adopt a proactive approach to project EHS requirements
- Work independently or as part of a team
- Provide safety input to site management and at site EHS forums
- Ensure subcontractors adhere to project & group EHS policies & procedures
- Coordinate Mercury Engineering induction & training, ensure it is managed and maintained
- Ensure project PPE is resourced and available
- Compile and carry out toolbox talks as necessary
- Assist or carry out accident investigation reports and communicate findings to Mercury Engineering project management
- Welfare & Hygiene facilities are in place, managed & maintained
- Liaise with site Project Management on environmental, health & safety issues
- Ensure up-to-date documentation is included with the Safety File
- Maintain waste reduction and recycling programmes in line with project policies & procedures
- Other duties as associated with this role
Essential Criteria
- Relevant qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety
- 7+ years’ experience managing environmental, health and safety on large construction sites
- Experience working on Data Centres (preferred)
- 5+ years managing a team of EHS advisors
- Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation
- Flexibility in working patterns where necessary
- Ability to efficiently manage all EHS issues on site
- Strong communication & computer skills
- Ability to work on own initiative with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Good teamwork skills
