Overview

Electric Propulsion Engineer (all genders) role at VÆRIDION. You will contribute to the design, development, and certification of the aircraft propulsion system and work within a multi-functional team reporting to the Head of Propulsion. The role covers power plant physical and functional integration, including electric engine and engine control, electric engine thermal management, propeller system and propeller control, power plant mounting, propulsion system HMI, and overall power plant hardware and software integration. Your daily tasks will involve a variety of technical activities for the propulsion team. Every day brings new challenges with a healthy level of responsibility and autonomy, supported by the team.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Proactively lead and execute technical tasks within the propulsion department for the Microliner development and certification, from capturing technical requirements to demonstrating compliance.
  • Contribute to the definition, sizing, specification, development, and integration of the aircraft propulsion system, including cockpit HMI and system maintainability.
  • Develop physical and functional interfaces between the power plant and the aircraft structure and related systems and disciplines.
  • Support propulsion system safety analysis and conduct system engineering tasks.
  • Support propulsion system validation and verification activities.
  • Support the integration of the power plant digital mock-up (DMU) with the aircraft 3D model.
  • Select, interact with, and manage suppliers, taking responsibility for work packages related to the development and integration of different propulsion sub-systems.
  • Define and coordinate propulsion equipment qualification campaigns together with suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Support propulsion system hardware and software testing campaigns, from component test benches to full-scale prototypes, and aircraft ground and flight test campaigns.
  • Provide engineering support for prototype final assembly line.
  • Ensure adherence to all engineering processes and standards and participate in design reviews to meet development and certification goals.

Your Profile

  • Engineering degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in aircraft propulsion systems within an aerospace OEM. Experience with electric propulsion and/or turboprop systems is a plus.
  • Practical experience with aircraft certification programs (preferably EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25).
  • Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering, safety process analysis, and airborne hardware and software qualification.
  • Results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to interact efficiently with customers, authorities, suppliers, and internal organizational units.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage, and execute multiple simultaneous tasks.
  • Positive and optimistic attitude, with a collaborative approach in a multicultural team, adhering to company rules and values.
  • Assertive verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in another European language is a plus.
  • Passionate about aviation and the electrification of the aviation industry.

VÆRIDION is a fast-growing deep tech start-up based in Munich, Germany. Since restrictions by law on CO2 emissions for domestic and short-haul air travel will stimulate Green Regional Air Mobility, we believe it\'s our mission to provide an aircraft for Zero emission regional flights.
