Freelance Electrical Engineer & Project Manager - HVDC Transmission Project

I am currently recruiting for a freelance Electrical Engineer & a freelance Project Manager to assist on a major HVDC transmission Project in Germany.


HVDC Electrical Engineer


• Support design of HVDC converter stations, cables, transformers, and auxiliaries
• Conduct system studies (load flow, short-circuit, harmonics, EMT) using tools like PSCAD, PowerFactory
• Prepare/review specs, SLDs, and equipment datasheets
• Evaluate vendor offers and ensure technical compliance
• Participate in FAT/SAT for HVDC equipment
• Assist with site installation, integration, and commissioning
• Ensure compliance with IEC standards, German grid codes, and HSE rules
• Contribute to risk assessments, design reviews, and issue resolution
• Liaise with TSOs, authorities, and certifiers


Electrical Project Manager


• Lead full project lifecycle (design to commissioning)
• Manage scope, budget, schedule, and risks
• Oversee technical design and feasibility
• Ensure quality, safety (EHS), and compliance
• Coordinate teams and stakeholders (internal/external)
• Handle contracts, claims, and procurement
• Track KPIs and report to leadership
• Implement lessons learned and improvements
