Job Description
About Us
FaradaIC Sensors GmbH develops advanced miniaturized electrochemical gas sensors on chip. Our mission is to revolutionize sensor technology by delivering innovative, reliable, and ultra-compact solutions across industries. We design sensors that are not only highly sensitive and selective but also power-efficient and scalable.
We are a fast-growing deep-tech startup based in Teltow (Berlin area), with an international, hands-on team and strong R&D presence in both Germany and Serbia. Our working culture emphasizes autonomy, ownership, and collaboration between hardware, software, and materials science teams.
The Role
We are looking for a mid-to-senior level R&D Systems Engineer to take ownership of our experimental lab setups, including high-precision gas sensor testbeds and custom automation systems. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building and maintaining hardware/software systems in a dynamic R&D environment.
You’ll work closely with the CTO and collaborate with our electronics, embedded, and backend software teams in Teltow and Belgrade to ensure the smooth operation and continuous improvement of our test infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain custom experimental setups for sensor testing and calibration
- Adapt and upgrade commercial lab instruments for specialized workflows
- Design and assemble electronic subsystems (PCB layout, soldering, sensors, actuators)
- Write control and automation software (e.g., Python, C/C++)
- Support local lab automation tasks (e.g., heaters, valves, data logging)
- Collaborate with researchers to tailor setups to experimental needs
- Troubleshoot and service lab equipment and document systems for maintainability
Ideal Background
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in R&D lab environments or experimental system development
- Proven ability to work across electronics and software domains
Experience With
- PCB design and low-noise analog electronics
- Programming for automation and data acquisition (Python, C/C++)
- Microcontrollers and embedded systems
- Automated measurement systems and system commissioning
- Debugging, prototyping, and hands-on problem-solving in experimental setups
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with high-precision/low-noise measurement systems
- Background in semiconductor instrumentation or similar lab tools
- Experience in a research lab or deep-tech startup
What We Offer
- A chance to own critical infrastructure in a hardware-focused deep-tech company
- A full-time position based in Teltow, with occasional travel to Belgrade
- Competitive salary and participation in the company’s ESOP
- A collaborative international team and access to cutting-edge technologies
- Relocation support, if needed
- Long-term career development opportunities
