Job Description:

Design and implement a compact embedded hardware + firmware system for a small-scale wind turbine. The system should measure key parameters (wind speed, rotor RPM, voltage, current), log data to SD card, and provide a simple protection function against overvoltage or overspeed by activating a dump load relay.




Hardware Requirements:

• MCU: STM32F405 (or similar ARM Cortex-M4 MCU).


• Power Supply:
  • Buck converter (MP2359 or MP1584) to step down from 12–24 V DC.
  • LDO 3.3 V regulator for MCU and sensors.


• Sensors:
  • Wind speed: Anemometer with reed switch or Hall sensor.
  • Rotor RPM: Hall sensor + magnet on turbine hub.
  • Voltage & Current: INA219 or INA226 (I²C).
  • RTC: DS3231 for accurate timestamping.


• Data Storage: microSD card slot (SPI).


• Protection & Actuator:
  • Automotive relay + MOSFET driver to connect dump load.
  • TVS diode + reverse polarity protection at power input.


• Indicators & User IO: LED (status), push-button (reset/user).
• Telemetry: LoRa (SX1276)



Firmware:

Written in C for STM32 (HAL/LL). It should handle sensor acquisition, averaging, CSV logging, protection FSM, and watchdog reset. LoRa
