HIGHCAT is a dynamic startup in the security sector providing drones to militaries, police forces and fire departments within Europe. We are determined to be the Western standard of drones in both the B2G and B2B sectors. Located in the outskirts of Konstanz, our office is encompassed by nature where our collaborative team design, innovate and manufacture our drone portfolio. Our diverse, small but growing company has 14+ employees with 3+ different nationalities. We are searching for an Embedded Software & Vision Engineer to join us on site for a minimum of 32 hours a week.

What you'll do:
• Develop, maintain, and optimize embedded software for NVIDIA Jetson platforms
• Integrate and accelerate computer vision and AI pipelines on edge hardware
• Design and implement robust messaging systems and data protocols for real-time communication
• Improve the system’s situational awareness and autonomy capabilities through sensor-driven logic
• Collaborate with other systems teams to deliver a reliable and secure software stack
• Monitor system performance and provide detailed logging, diagnostics, and status reporting
• Support production efforts including secure flashing, installation, and deployment of services
• Contribute to overall system architecture and safety-critical feature implementation


Education and Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably on Linux-based systems
• Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Jetson (Nano, Xavier, Orin, etc.) and associated toolchains (GStreamer, TensorRT, etc.)
• Strong proficiency in C, C++ and Python programming languages
• Experience with real-time data streaming, edge AI inference, and hardware-accelerated vision
• Knowledge of networking protocols and inter-process communication patterns
• Previous work with drones, robotics, or autonomous vehicles is a major advantage
• Familiarity with system security, encryption, and production deployment best practices
• Ability to debug and optimize system performance under real-world conditions
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); German is a plus
